Project’s major investor, Tatneft, contributed 250 million rubles in 2016, 200 million in 2017 and 2018, and 150 million in 2019 and 2020.

The project has 3 steps.

1. Establishing cycling infrastructure

The project was designed by Danish Copenhagenize Design Co.

- The connectivity of a bicycle route must be ensured. Bike facilities should be established in the most significant places of the city.

- bikeways must be separated from motor traffic and from the sidewalk.

- physical separation of bikeways by the existing green buffer;

- reduction of the roadways’ width;

- combination of the above mentioned options.

The bikeways must comply with the international standards and have a width of 2.2 meters. In order to meet the quality standards, Almetyevsk MUE GUAD acquired a new paver, VÖGELE SUPER 800-3, with the pave widths ranging from 1.5 m to 3.5 m, and a new roller, Hamm HD 14, with the minimum spreading width of 1.5 m.
High-quality cycling infrastructure should ensure:

- parking opportunities in yards, and on the premises of companies, as well as near educational and cultural institutions;

- bike repairs;

- intersection treatments;

- regulatory and warning signage, and markings;

- angled garbage bins along bikeways.

2. Making it accessible

Winter maintenance of the bikeways is to be carried out with 4 brand new Hako Citymaster 1200 sweepers and 8 brand new MTZ-320 mini tractors. Anti-icing treatment involves using eco-friendly mineral salts, while the amount of salt to be used varies from 5 to 50 grams per square meter depending on the weather conditions.
To improve accessibility, bike sharing service, Go Bike, is established. The rent is 10 rubles per 30 minutes.
Comprehensive scheme of bike routes, parking opportunities and rental points is designed.
